Pipe Chipper for PE & HDPE Pipes

High-Speed Plastic Pipe Chipping

Pipe Chipper for PE & HDPE Pipes

A pipe chipping machine for fast, continuous size reduction of regular PE and HDPE pipes. Side-fed pipes meet high-speed rotating knives and leave as coarse chips and strips. Throughput: 300–1,000 kg/hr.

  • Continuous rotary cutting with a working principle similar to a wood chipper.
  • Long pipe feeding with less pre-cutting and no hydraulic pusher.
  • Designed for PE and HDPE pipes; unsuitable for PVC and brittle pipe.

How Pipe Chipping Works

1. Feed from the Side

Feed regular pipe sections into the side opening. Keep the pipe aligned for a consistent cut.

2. Cut with Rotating Knives

High-speed knives progressively slice material from the pipe, producing chips and strips through continuous cutting.

3. Reduce Further if Needed

Collect the coarse output or convey it to a granulator for finer, more consistent particle size.

Advantages for PE & HDPE Pipe Recycling

  • Continuous High-Speed Cutting

Rotating knives cut the pipe continuously for fast volume reduction. Regular PE and HDPE pipes with stable wall thickness suit this cutting action.

  • Feed Long Pipe Sections

Side feeding lets suitable long pipes enter continuously, reducing pre-cutting. Pipe diameter and wall thickness must fit the feed opening and cutting capacity.

  • Simpler Feeding Mechanism

No complex hydraulic pusher is required. A simpler feeding arrangement makes routine inspection and maintenance more direct.

  • Compact Front-End Processing

Use the chipper as the primary reduction stage before a granulator in a pipe recycling line, where a compact equipment layout is needed.

Applications

PE & HDPE Pipe Production Scrap

Rejected pipe lengths and regular pipe offcuts from extrusion lines.

Long & Large-Diameter Pipes

Straight, regular pipe sections that fit the machine’s feed opening and cutting capacity.

Pipe Recycling Lines

Primary coarse reduction before granulation. Sort feedstock and remove metal or other foreign objects before processing.

Material & Operating Limits

Regular Pipe Shapes Only

Best suited to regular PE and HDPE pipes. Do not use this machine for PVC, brittle pipes, drums, solid lumps or irregular plastic parts.

Knives Are Sensitive to Impact

Metal, foreign objects and irregular impact loads can damage high-speed cutting knives. Keep feedstock clean and inspect knife condition regularly.

Coarse, Variable Output

Chipping can produce uneven chips and long strips. Use a downstream granulator if a controlled final size is required.

More Cutting Noise & Impact

High-speed cutting can generate stronger impact and noise than low-speed shredding. Plan suitable guarding and noise control for the installation.

Pipe Chipper FAQ

The pipe enters from the side, where high-speed rotating knives continuously cut it into coarse chips and strips. The cutting principle is similar to a wood chipper, but this machine is designed for plastic pipe.

Regular PE and HDPE pipes with consistent wall thickness are the intended feedstock. This pipe chipper is not suitable for PVC or other brittle pipes, drums, solid lumps or irregular plastic parts.

Continuous chipping can be more efficient on regular PE and HDPE pipe with stable wall thickness. It is not a universal throughput advantage: the comparison depends on pipe dimensions, knife condition and feed rate. Use your own pipe samples to confirm performance.

The output is coarse chips and irregular strips, not consistently sized granules. Add downstream granulation when a controlled particle size is needed; washing and drying depend on the feedstock and the recycling process.

Choose a horizontal pipe shredder when the application calls for controlled hydraulic push feeding of long pipe sections and low-speed, high-torque shredding. Choose a pipe chipper for continuous high-speed cutting of regular PE or HDPE pipe.
