Without chemical pre-treatment, DAF removal of fine suspended solids drops sharply \u2014 the chemistry, not the tank, does half the work.<\/p>\n<h2>What SS, FOG, and BOD Actually Are \u2014 and Where a Washing Line Makes Them<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>SS (suspended solids):<\/strong> soil, fines, label pulp, and plastic dust washed off the material \u2014 the visible cloudiness.
